Seventy percent of Bolivian women are survivors of domestic violence. Yapay Bolivia funds forty college scholarships, which includes tuition, books, room and board, for survivors of domestic violence who otherwise would not be able to attend college.
We believe that funding educational pursuits is an important part of empowering and lifting up women. These women are studying for professions such as law and social work through which they will be able to help other domestic violence survivors. Many of the recipients live in the Casa de la Justicia on the shores of Lake Alalay in Cochabamba, Bolivia. These capable women are working to end domestic violence and help women’s voices be heard, and we are so proud to be supporting them as they pursue their dreams.
